What's going on guys I'm new here visited often but finally made a profile so I could ask some questions lol. So I have a 1987 merc classic 50, I got the boat from my father who got it from his father so it's kinda special I reckon. Anywho, I got the boat back to running and it ran like a scalded dog. Till about a week ago when I got stuck in a rain storm. The boat ran great that day but when I cut it off to get the trailer in the water it wouldn't crank, I got it home and it had stopped raining and it started fine on the ears. About three days ago I took my friend out to run the creek and I was stuck in conversation and just kept squeezing the primer till it flooded, I finally got it to crank and what do you know, the classic 50 3k rpm stall. Suspecting I had a stuck float I got some carb cleaner removed the carbs and cleaned them up. During re-installation I assume I mixed some wires up, hook the car to the boat to jump it off since I had killed the battery trying to crank it days before, the next thing I know smoke starts pouring out of motor and I fried two of the three ground wires on the harness. I redid the harness and now I only have knowledge of the location of one ground wire not all three. Any help would be greatly appreciated as far as where to connect these wires pics are welcome!!
