I have a 1986 Sea Ray Seville 22' with a 3.7/470, 170 HP and I am considering a repower to a 4.3 MPI. My main concern is the extra weight and future access to components around the engine such as the batteries, etc. Does anyone have any thoughts or knowledge with this boat / repower?

I don't hink you'll have problems with weight and you can modify the position of any of the other items involved, so it's up to you, you can put just about any motor in there.

Ya know the old saying "there is no substitute for horse power" Good luck with your transfer.

I have the same boat and have repowered with a merc 5.0 liter its a tight fit and some modifications where needed to the motor well but its a huge increase in power and performance. As for the battery my battery sits under the stern starboard side and is not an issue. I did have some problems with the exhaust Y pipe but we solved that by using a marine metal seal as the holes did not line up. It has been over 10 yrs and its holding just fine.
