Bass Boat Central, Scream and Fly, Face Book (high performance boating), Chris Carson Marine (Florida)... you may have to go up or down (150 to 200) on horse power and size (2.0 to 2.5) for a replacement?.. jus do ya research on anything, anyone ya might find!!!.. lotta butt-heads out there now days.

iBoats used to have links to rebuilders. I bought an inline 6 150HP block from one of them

I am in California
Thanks for the recommendations. I looked online and did not find any that far back. Plenty from 92 and up. Nothing for 86
I will keep looking. Thank you

justa 'bout everything BUT block half, pistons, rings, center main bearings (different crank) .. as for everything else ya gotta know tha difference, but can be used.. tha 150 is a 2.0 steel sleeve motor and your 175 is a 2.4 chrome (same as 200) bore motor which is tha MAIN difference

None of the reman companies I know of even offer a 2.4 anymore...best bet is to find a older 2.4L Xr4 power head if possible. From the prices I have seen for a reman powerheads you may be better to part it out and buy a complete running 2.5 as prices are close to same.

How does one identify the difference between a long shaft 1986 black max and a short shaft?

A short shaft motor is for a 15" transom. 15" transoms are found on Jon and aluminum semi vee boats 14- 16 feet and under. Likely Black Max's, being higher HP never came in that length.

Long Shaft motors are for a 20" transom. There will also be a fair number of Black Max Xl shaft motors.

Which length do you need?

I will have to check. I believe it’s a 20” shaft
It’s on a 1987 ranger bass boat 370v

Not finding much for power heads. Might have to get a different outboard or buy a new boat
