Hi All, I'm repowering my boat from a 1977 evinrude 115hp with center console controls, to a 1986 merc 90hp with side mount controls. I've never done this before, but on the merc I'm gonna have to go from the side mount controls to top mount. Is it possible to use the same cables and ingnition switch from the merc and just replace the control box with a top mount.Also wondering if the steering cable will work on the merc, are they universal or particular to the engine tilt tube, any info would be appreciated. I'm trying to do this with as little impact on my wallet as possible due to new baby on the way.
