Hello everyone,

I am in a pickle. I just bought a 1986 Edson commander with a '86 Mariner 6 Cylinder 115hp, and I am having issues finding a picture of the front of the engine, as well as parts for the choke assemblies.

My manual choke lever doesn't exist, i think it is missing linkages for the electric choke as well, mayber a few other components as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello InProgress and welcome to iBoats. It is my understanding that larger hp Mariners are really rebranded Mercurys. Have you compared pictures an 86 MERCURY 115 with your engine? I have not been able to find much on the choke / front pictures of a Mariner either.
Also, what is your SN, that will help isolate the correct parts diagrams.

go on the crowleymarine parts web site and look up the Mercury of the same year and HP. That should match your Mariner.

The fuel enricher found on these, and many Mercs and Force engines, are a solenoid operated valve, that allows fuel to flow in the manifold behind the carbs. Enriching the air fuel mix with extra gas. Follow the fuel lines from the carbs, to the port side up near the top carb.

When the key is turned on and pushed in, you should hear a very faint click as the solenoid opens up the enricher.

It looks like #14, below.
2 wires, 2 fuel hose connections.

Oh ok, I thought that "solenoid" was supposed to be hooked to something... On the top of the carb, is there no linkages to open the choke on the carb? or is that Auto? The serial number of the Motor is A76601, I havent found anything on that serial number too.. I am from Canada, so not too sure if that makes much of a difference! :)

So technically, is my motor a tower of power?

Can i get a big bore kit to turn it into a 150?

Gee, that motor should not have any choke plates.

I have never heard of any bolt-on or bore-on way to significantly increase the power of that 99 cu in engine. She is rated at the prop, so you are getting a full 115HP.

when in use that solenoid has a rubber tip that covers a hole in the side of the carb when your cranking the motor it forces it to draw in more fuel, you push in the key to use it while cranking the motor
