I have a 1986 Johnson 4.5

If anyone can offer me any thoughts or suggestions I would be most appreciative as I have been troubleshooting this motor for a few weeks now.

I can get her to turn over and run after repeated tries of pulling. Once I get her running she stalls out at high speed and low idle. I noticed that I am only getting spark from one of the spark plugs (the one on the bottom).
When I first received the motor it just backfired until I swapped the spark plug wires (I figured the previous owner just had them on the wrong plugs)

My hunch is that either I have a bad coil or power pack.

Seeing how I have a spark to one plug does this mean the stator is good?

I tried testing each coil with the light bulb test, but was not able to get either coil to light the bulb when I cranked her over.

Is thier another test that I can perform on each coil to see if they are working?

Is thier a way I can test the power pack?

I noticed that I have continuety on both coils when I touch both of the wires comming out of the coil. Is this normal?

Also is thier a reliable place to purchase Johnson parts that has a return policy on parts if I end up not having to replace both the coil and power pack?

Since you are getting spark on the bottom cylinder, swap the coils and see if the top plug has spark. If it does spark, you have a bad coil.
I don't know of any parts supplier that allows returns on electrical parts.
