Recently got a bayliner trophy with an 85 hp force outboard. took it out a couple times and the first time it had no power at all. full throttle would top out at about 5 mph if that. took it out again and at when i first took off it planed out fine and ran perfect. stopped at our fishing spot and when i went to take off again back to the 5 mph. also noticed that fuel was dripping out of all the carbs. checked the floats and all seemed fine. this has me stumped. please help!

Did you perform a tuneup on the new boat? Carb cleaning, replace/reset points/condensors, time the engine, new plugs, fresh fuel, fresh gear oil in lower unit, etc..? Fuel dripping from carbs is indicitive of stuck float or needle and seat needing replacing/cleaning. Let us know what you find.

cleaned all the carbs up, check cylinders. had about 130 psi in all gear oil is the lower part, i was thinking it was float or needle as well but its leaking from all 3 carbs not just one. thats why i think it might be something more than that

Do a fuel pump rebuild. Then clean all the carbs again.Install a filter between the pump and the carbs. While the carbs are off check the reeds.
Ethanol is delaminating older hoses and making them mushy and actually melting the inside.
Replace all the hoses and squeezie.
Check the timing.Jerry
