This engine says prestolite on it but the diagram in the Seloc manual doesn't match at all... the diagram for the engine with breaker plate and condensers matches exactly. The engine used to spark on one cylinder, now there is no spark on both. Both ignition coils are brand new. We tried bypassing the kill switch, inspected all the wiring and i don't see anything wrong.
Is the problem with ignition switch? or do the condensers and breaker plate need to be replaced?? According to the diagram, there is no trigger coil. Maybe it is the stator/alternator??
Any help would be greatly appreciated !!
thank you,
Jack

The kill circuit kills the engine when the switch is bypassed..Try disconnecting the kill wire at the engine, and trying it. The circuit must be open to run.

well i tried that but still no spark, should i try to disconnect the yellow/black wire from the nuetral interlock switch that everyone seems to be talking about on here?
If not should i then test the resistance of the stator?
thanks for all your help,
jack

Re: 1986 FORCE 50 hp no spark

update: now what i did was... i left the yellow/black wire connected, cuz when i disconnected it the engine didn't do anything when i turned the key (didn't turn over or anything) But now all the sudden there is spark off the bottom coil.... so i switched the blue and brown wires from bottom coil to top coil and the top coil then fires. So it is not the coils, it must be wherever the white wire is going to.. which the book shows to be the condenser... do condensers go bad??

Re: 1986 FORCE 50 hp no spark

well if it is a condenser or breaker points i guess that is out of my league, time to just give up and take it in to shop :( oh well i tried i everything i could think of. I will post what the problem was after i take it in, in order to help any other people who may come across the same thing... seems like alot people on this forum never come back to say what they did to fix things or what the cause of their problem was.

I know it has been a long time since your post i had the same problem I pulled my flywheel off and found that all it was is a sheared pin and a loose ground screw on my contacts
