First time boat owner, and have a lot to learn. I have a 1986 Evinrude 150 (E150STLCDC 1986) that has an inconsistent starting motor. It had been idle for about 2 years, but I finally got it started last month in the driveway with the garden hose/muff, but as soon as I back it into the lake, it won't turn over. In both places, the motor cover was OFF. As soon as I pull it back out of the water and into the driveway again, it will start no problem. What can be causing this problem?
