I was taking out the gas tank to paint the deck again. The through hull venting system was locked up, even with PB blaster I still ended up breaking it off on the outside and will buy a new one, no big deal.

When taking off the black rubber fuel line from the top of the port side I noticed there was a black wire the length of the tube. 3 inches on each end had exposed wires and was folded inward to the inside of the tubing. What is this and what purpose does it serve?

I got this boat and have been fixing little things on it the last 3 weeks, nothing major. Floor is solid and engine in great shape. I have learned alot from the forums and enjoy reading them. Any help is always appreciated.

Hello CT and welcome to Iboats :) ..

Yea..that wire is for anti static spark grounding..

The end of that wire should be connected to one of the through bolts on the fitting..then going to a ground on the batteries ..

Just so you dont blow yourself up when fillin up :) .. Standard issue mate..

Always Ground your Fuel fitting when its metal !

I saw a small screw at the bottom of the fuel fitting, wondered if that may be what it was for. I will hook it back up :)
