1986 - 85 HP Force Temp sending unit location?

Other than the over-temp hole, which is non-threaded, is there a location on the motor to place a temp sending unit for a temp-gauge setup? Thanks!

I don't believe so. Although, you can probably fabricate one or at least tap the existing one.

Yes, the top of the head, there's a silver screw that when removed
the sending unit for the temp gauge can fit right there.
Usually the aftermarket kits have a probe that goes down in the water flow.
It should fit on the top of the head.
