Engine starts and idles well. However when I throttle the engine up, its dies. I have cleaned the carb, replaced fuel lines, made sure bulb stays hard but still will not accelerate in netral or indrive. But when I cover air intake into carb 3/4 or with choke the engine will accelerate just fine. To much air not enough fuel thats all i have come up with, just now how to fix it?!?
Thank You!

Do a compression/spark test. Then rebuild the fuel pump.J

ok did compression test 120+ on both cylinders. good spark on both also. waiting for parts to rebuild fuel pump. I took it apart though and small pieces were fraying off fuel pump diaphram.Parts should be in tomorrow.thank you for your reply

Well you have a weak mixture so maybe an air leak in the fuel lines or maybe those frayed pieces from the fuel pump have clogged up a jet in the carb.

What are the settings for the idle mixture screws? Mine run best at 1 1/8" turns out from lightly seated.

Disconnect the fuel line at the pump inlet pipe and drop it into a container - pump the primer bulb quickly and you should get a good steady flow of fuel. That means the problem is in the engine from the fuel pump to the carbs. Just work through one thing at a time.

By the way, you have seen the reason why we suggest installing a filter between the fuel pump and carbs - to catch the pieces from the deteriorating fuel pump diaphragm :)

ok well I fixed it. Turns out the jets were in the wrong places. The smaller jet wasnt letting fuel in fast enough. Switched them and runs like a champ. Must have been mixed up after cleaning the carb. Thanks
