1986 4hp evinrude help.

I have a 1986 4hp evinrude outboard.

Ok just gone to start by saying I haven't got a clue about outboard motors. Now with that out of the way. My motor will start but it has to idle in between medium and high. When I try to lower the idle it chokes out on me. When I let it idle for a couple of minutes and put it into gear it starts choking out. But When I bump The throttle up Halfway to hi the motor catches up and were off then I put it in hi and she pushes my 15 foot jon boat around the lake so beautifully. P s white film around carburetor mouth. (PLEASE *HELP) thanks.

Sounds like it is time for a carb clean and rebuild.
You may however try to give it a Sea Foam treatment first. Let it stay in the carb over night before running it out, but most likely a manual 'operation' is needed.
Lots of plastic bits and pieces that easily break when taking apart, be careful!

Ok so the seafoam thang do I just pour it in the carb straight from the bottle or mix with the gas.
And how much do I use.and is their a pacific type of brand to get. Can I buy a kit for rebuild or do I get it piece by piece.
