1985 Mercury 35 dropping a cylinder

My engine runs smooth at idle and the fire is steady but under a load the #2 cylinder is barely hitting. The plug looks like it has never fired, no deposits and dry. I think I have a lean cylinder. I pulled the powerhead and checked the seals. The carb has been rebuilt but I don't know how a fuel problem would affect only one cylinder when they share the same carb. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Make sure that both magnets are attached to the flywheel, they have a habit of comeing unglued---Bob

I removed the flywheel, everything looks fine with the magnets, wiring etc.

If the magnets are on you either have a bad coil or switch box you can ck. the coil by reversing the wires from one coil to the other the at the coils, if it's not the coil it must be the switch box
