1985 merc 4 cyl inline motor

Does anyone have any pros or cons for a 1985 Grady White with a Merc 4 cylinder original inboard? It has a Merc cruiser out drive. I was wondering if these had any issues we should be aware of. Or anyone's experience with them? Any information would be appreciated

Ayuh,... If it's the Mercruiser built 470, 3.7l,..?? with the radiator cap,..??
Ya don't want it, no how, no way...

If it's the 2.5L or 3.0l GM 4 cylinder,...
Their great little powerhouses that'll run Forever, if treated right....

You'll be spending money to make the 470 reliable, but I think they are bullet proof after fixing the many flaws. If you don't want to do that, stick with a 3.0
