I apologize if this has been asked and answered. I looked but I haven't seen this particular question. I am replacing the poppet valve. Ordered a new one and it came with a black plastic "cup" or washer as they call it. Where does it go in the sequence of install? When I pulled the old one off, it did not have one. Probably why it needs to be replaced but now I want to make sure it goes in right. Thanks in advance for all your help and patience with a new guy.

Thanks Dukedog! But actually the part I'm talking about might be different from what you're thinking. The part I'm talking about is on the bottom right of this picture...

That's what I was thinking too. But the more I look at it, I'm wondering if this kit is meant to fit on multiple engines, this "cap" being the outside cover. I know it's the right kit, though. Everything else fits as it should.

I agree. Just not too sure about the previous mechanical work done of this engine. Wanted to make sure "they" didn't leave out the part by mistake and repeat the same mistake. The big test comes tomorrow! Thanks for your help!

Hmmm... Well, the new poppet valve didn't fix the problem either. Temperature still begins to climb @ 3000rpm. Overheat alarm goes off. Slow to no wake speed and it shuts off. Telltale strong flow, so impeller should be working. Was told it was just replaced when I bought it a year ago. Anybody have any suggestions? Anybody ever have this problem and actually FIX it? I see a lot of posts about it, but no solutions. HELP!

ya can't judge tha pump by amount of discharge... first thing with an unknown heat problem is a "complete pump kit" (oem) no mater what you were told by someone else.. tha stainless ride plate and housing cup WILL get worn and/or little ridges in 'em so sometimes just tha impeller won't do it.. also most that jus replace tha impeller DON'T use new gaskets. check/clean or replace t-stats if they aren't doin' right.. same with poppet but tha pump comes first...........jmo
