You did not eliminate the carbs or the reed block. The motor acts differently when pre-mix is sprayed down each of them. It bogs on one of them, but speeds up on the other one.

UGH! I took the carbs off and they're perfectly clean!!! D:

One thing I've noticed, when i turn the motor by hand I get a weird sound coming from the top reed valves. I can't what it exactly is.

Re: 1985 Johnson 2cylinder 60hp

Took both carbs apart. Both were perfectly clean but i blew air threw every passage to make sure. The carbs are installed at the moment. Unless the venturi tube going to the idle passage is cracked, everything should be fine?

I'm going to let the motor sit a little longer for the brp stuff. It calls for 3-16 hours wait time.

If the problem still persists when I start it up later today, the reeds are coming out.

BTW, I have a #34 idle air orifice in both carbs. The motor is a long shaft. Is this the right jet?

Re: 1985 Johnson 2cylinder 60hp

Anybody know what the exact yoke length needs to be? How do I check properly?

You should have #34's in the low speed and #51D's in the high speed.

SHE LIVES! RUNS really nicely now. Not sure if a ring got unstuck or the carb was partially clogged. If it was clogged I'm thinking it was the idle tube thing. Going to check the compression tomorrow. Primer still needs to be rebuilt.

Anybody know the length at which the yoke is screwed on the rod? I want to make sure everything is synced up correctly. is it 4 31/32? How would you check this exactly?

Ran good today. Anybody know the length the yoke should be? I feel like there should be more low end grunt. It really likes the high rpms, but that might be because of the prop and the trim.

you said you sprayed seafoam in both carbs while it was bogging and the lower one died and the upper carb increased rpm thats telling me the upper carb is running lean, make sure both carbs are getting fuel mabe you have a fuel pump problem just my 2 cents

Anybody know the yoke length? Would this be in a factory service manual?

You might need to spell out more precisely what component you are actually trying to check/adjust......if the procedure is part of the engine sync process im not seeing it in my manual (1982).

If you're looking at a diagram of the cylinder and crankcase, the rod, lever to cam, has a yoke on it. The yoke, throttle cam, needs to be a certain length from the end of the rod. The yoke screws on to the rod and therefore can be adjusted. I'm wondering what the exact length needs to be and where you measure it from.

It should be part of the synchronization process but i could be wrong.

The only thing i see is a reference to it in "Synchronization of the throttle cam with spark advance".......no measurement given in that section.

I know some 70hp 3 cylinder motors have a yoke length of 4 31/32 inches. It was listed in a picture and not in the text. Beginning section of the manual.
