I went with iboats for the kits...not too bad at just under $100.. Im in the process of removing this OB from my hull to start the resto job on the boat. Ill give this OB more attention when the snows too deep to work on the boat:D No garrage for this gent. Only a small tool shed big enough to house my 2 OB's for the winter and work on the 70..Ill post with more questions..as I know that when the time comes, there will be plenty to ask;)

Well all I can say is you are lucky the VRO pump was disabled. They are junk at best. Plastic housing in an enclosed cover = Warping.
2 things they do good is fail without warning and fill your cards full of oil when you let her sit for awhile.

If you can get to the carb drains you might try that while squeezing the primer bulb to flush them out.

One diagnostic is to shoot a little carb spray in the carb when it is starting or running poorly. if it runs better, probably fuel issue, if it dies, check ignition system.
