Working on a 1985 Evinrude 70 for a friend. Got screwed royally on the boat/motor when he bought it. Compression is great in all 3 cylinders. It was running terrible when he got it(seller ran it on muffs just long enough to claim it ran) Anyway it was misfiring on on cylinder which eventually turned to 2 cylinders misfiring. I replaced the plugs and the switch box and it fires right up. Can run it from one end of the lake to the other, shut it down, starts right back up instantly,5-10 minutes later still starts right up instantly, but shut it down for 1/2 or an hour and it takes forever to get it to start again. Primer bulb stays hard. Using the choke or fast idle doesn't seem to help much. It will start eventually but what causes this? Are these motors prone to vapor lock? Doesn't seem to run overly hot,has a great pee stream. Any ideas what can be causing this? TIA
