Hi everyone,
I have a 1985 Bayliner Capri 2.1 Volvo AQ125B. This is my first boat and was purchased in May. I've had it out on the lake at least two dozen times this summer and haven't had any major problems that I couldn't fix.
I searched around the forum but haven't seen any hesitation issues like this one.
I had the boat out three days ago and it ran beautiful. I took it out again yesterday, launched, started up and ran great through the no wake zone.
I throttled up and just after 200RPM, the boat hesitated real bad, brought the throttle back, idles fine. Tried again, same thing happened.
I limped along a while, dropped anchor, took a look at the carb, tweaked the mixture screw a little, same thing happened.
However, in neutral, the engine revs perfectly through 4500 RPM. Tried going out again, hesitated, played with the throttle a little, once I was past 2200 rpm, the boat took off as usual. We cruised around for a half hour, never going below 3000 RPMs and figured that the problem was solved. Throttled back to idle, same thing happened.
Brought the boat home, connected ear muffs, throttled up in gear, engine revved perfectly, no hesitation.
The hesitation only seems to happen when the boat is in gear in the water. Checked the outdrive fluid, looks good so does the prop.
Any idea what to look for? I will be taking the boat out again this afternoon.
Thanks in advance for your help.
