So,

I am new to repairing boats. However, I have been restoring things for years. In fact, I just finished a beautiful restoration for a 1968 Hodaka, but I digress...I wanted a boat and instead of buying a new one, my father gave me this one for free. the boat floor is solid(thank the Lord for that), but there was one rotten piece as you see in the pictures below. I will be replacing that. It seems that the only parts that had a coat of resin was fiberglass on the seams and resin over that. I'm not sure if I'll resin the entire deck. I'm not really sure if I plan to keep the boat that long. I just want something to get out on the lake quick.

As far as the interior goes, I will be changing the back up a bit by using Bass Boat Seats - Free Same Day Shipping. Replacement Bass Boat Bench Seats, Fishing Seats, Bass Boat Seats For Sale fish and ski seats. Hopefully I can pick them up this week.

Anyways, figured I'd start this post off and see what you guys thought. You can see the pictures of my future adventure below:

Re: 1985 Bayliner Capri 16 ft Slight rebuild

Welcome, aboard. Looking forward to watching the restoration. Good idea on the rear seats. I myself will be restoring a 1950 Capri with an I/O and want to eliminate the 2 rear facing and the 2 seats on either side of the engine compartment and go with 2 captain seats and a rear bench and make the space on either side of the engine into storage under a sun deck. Your idea may just save me time and money on trying to make or have made a bench seat that will fold and act as a step to the sun deck.
Good luck, and I will be watching in anticipation of the finished project.

Welcome to the Iboats Dry Dock, Conrad...

Hope your luck holds out and thats all the rotten wood you have, but to play devils advocate, you really need to do core samples of any wood that is in the boat, especially the stuff way in the back and down low...
From the looks of the pics you posted, it looks like it was rode hard and put away wet...if that is the case, and the boat has been exposed to the elements for any length of time, it may be in need of a complete restoration...
I certainly hate to be raining on your parade, but besides the basic issues of looks, is the most important of all "Safety factor"

You owe it to yourself to be sure of what is under you when you are out on the water with friends and family and the weather turns ugly...remember, a boat is similar to an airplane...you can't just pull over in an emergency...

Whatever you decide, the guys on this forum are some of the most knowledgeable and helpful anywhere, and they will give you great advice on how to do it the right way...

Best of luck,
GT1M
