Hey guy im pulling out what hair i have left on this one here we go

last year the motor ran ok idled rough but had tons of "pep" and would push my bass boat to 40 in a hurry well opening seasons here! took the boat out idled awesome better then before but couldn't get the boat over lets say 10 mph (speedo hose bad) any ways got home voila no spark in cylinder 3 checked compression (#1 cyc 123 #2 cyc 118 #3 cyc 122) so i took the lead from coil 2 and plugged in to coil 3 it worked so coil is good i have an open cdi wire that may work but dont know if that would throw the timing out i have checked all the grounds i dont know any ideas???????

Thanks in advance
Ken

Outboardignition.com Will help troubleshoot the ignition system. You might need a peak reading volt meter.J

so by using the other side of the cdi box it wont change the timing? i have read the if the timing is out it can be really bad for the motor? and where sould i measure the ohms through? thanks guys

ok so tearing in to it i found that the 2 blue wires coming from the stator were spliced together before the connector and one side had only one yellow going to the cd unit so i fixed that by chance i hooked the connectors together backwards and lost spark on cylinder 2 reversed them and lost it again on 3 so would you guys agree that the stator is bad????? thanks and if any one has one for cheap please let me know!!!!

I had this same issue. A cdi box and a timing trigger later i had pretty blue spark. Here is how to troubleshoot the ignition wire. Cylinder #3 has (atleast on mine) white with green stripe and a solid red wire for the trigger. Splice those two wires to any other cylinder (making sure you wire it correctly) and if you dont have spark on that cylinder that you wired it to you have a bad trigger. Same goes for the CDI box, just splice the wires into a known working source. Good luck! Now if i could only figure out my next issue.
