We see this a lot on here. The fact that you rebuilt the carb could mean you also have some deteriorating fuel line as well. And that can spell trash getting into your freshly rebuilt carb and plugging it up. I would remove the carb again and check the passages and change the fuel lines and make certain your fuel tank is also clean. And I would also check the fuel pump if it is still the original. I mean the engine is a 1985 model and if nothing has been touched before, there are a lot of things to check now... JMHO!
