Hey guys, thought I would start a thread with repairs and modifications I make to my boat. The intention for this boat is to get us through two or three seasons then I'll either sell or do a complete restore on it. I'm starting to get attached to the boat, even though its an eyesore, as its been really good to us so far. It really serves its purpose well as a fishing boat and family runabout. I picked it up last summer for $1700 with the trailer.

The previous owner did a hack job on the floor but it will get me by for another summer at least. The trailer had really seen better days and to top it off the previous owner painted the entire hull with blue tremclad!! Didnt even prep, painted right over the stains and even the DECALS!!! I used this to my advantage when negotiating price, he originally wanted $2700.

when we brought it up to the lake the day i bought it

first thing I added was a Humminbird Fish/Depth finder, alot of shallow spots on our lake.

the seats had some issues. The bow seats were ripped and rotten and after a few trips out my foot finally went through one LOL. So, I used the old wood as a template and grabbed some white marine vinyl from Fabricland, got a smokin deal on it. I used 1" plywood and reused the old foam

I also rebuilt the Drivers seat, used the old rotten frame as a template and cut all new pieces using 3/4" plywood, I reused the old foam and again used the white marine vinyl. Heres the young lad trying it out as well as the new bimini top added to keep the sun off our 1 year old daughter

This is how it went away in the fall, 4 weeks early I might add due to a starter letting go. I replaced it with a gear reduction only to have it go instantaneously as the shop gave me the wrong starter. Shaft was too short. Lucky it didnt damage my flywheel.

I also did some work to the trailer, replaced the bunks and carpet, new rollers, coat of paint and had my buddy make me some Starcraft decals

Over the winter I decided I hated the single white seat so I saw some seats on a Facebook classifieds page
Got all 4 for $60, they were brand new, still had the tags. Not as comfy as the old ones but theyre lighter, less bulky and allowed for easy storage or standing room (for fishing) when flipped up. I attached them with hinges on the fronts

Finally got to getting them in with the nice weather peaking its head out now. Turned out pretty good i think!

Also picked up this to replace my 3 blade stainless which needed some work. The one set of blades is literally a mm away from the trim tab anode so I think as a precaution I may break out the grinder and do a little trimming lol

Next big project is to get that paint stripped, not sure if im going to do it this season or not. I already have the aircraft stripper. Just need to take a day and get it done. Not as elaborate as alot of your projects but this is my first boat and im just plugging away with it. Also added a stereo in the glove box, had the impeller done, new mini starter, new plugs as well. Going to change the engine oil as soon as it warms up a little more. Cant wait to get in the water!!
