I have a 1984 Tiara with twin 225 hp volvo penta inboards. The port engine starts and runs fine for about an hour or so then all of a sudden it starts losing power the tach goes up and down until it finally shuts off. If I wait about five minutes or so it restarts and will run at low speed (2000 rpm) but if I go above that it starts all over again. Carbs were just rebuilt fuel filter changed and no water in fuel /water seperator. Even if I run it off of the starboard engine fuel tank it still does it. I think it must be electrical, I do not have points and distributor looks good. Mechanics take it out after carbs and say all is well but I take it out and it acts up again. I feel like I have waisted $1,500 with no good results. Any suggestions would be welcome.
