I picked up this boat with trailer the other day...not real pretty but the potential is there for a nice fishing/pleasure craft. 130 hp with alpha 1, the motor and outdrive are nice and clean, new fuel pump, new water separater, carb rebuilt, new winch and tongue on the trailer. The motor start and runs fine on an auxilary tank but wont run on the main so I picked up an anti-siphon valve and will check the fuel pick up tube. The floor is pretty new but it is only 3/8 pt plywood and since I have to pull the floor to check the tank I am going to go with 1/2 or 3/8 exterior grade ply and cover with epoxy then some kind of a wash down anti skid covering. The seats sit up quite high with a fairly small mounting base and I am wondering about the best way to strengthen that area....a larger piece of ply under the floor where the bolts run through? The inside of the hull is exposed so I may close that in and put in some storage areas to clean that up. What little wood is on the boat is pretty weather beaten so that needs attention also. While not new to boating doing interior/floor work will be a new experiance for sure! Any tips/advice apprciated!.....Dan

Nice boat Dan and welcome to the Starcraft family! I've always liked the lines of the Islander personally. If you're looking to beef up the floor around your pedastals and the deck is coming out anyways, why not install some aluminum or stainless sheets under the deck to sandwich the pedastal bolts?

Uhhhhh old street signs like No Parking signs are usually aluminum, strong and just the right thickness for stashing under the deck :D

When Matt removed the deck on his CC it had a couple of those sheets in it for beefing up the seat mounts.

Thanx for the tips! I am also wondering about some canvas for the boat. The snaps are in place for a mooring cover as well as full camper and I heard they came with a full camper top? Do you know if replacement proper fitting canvas can be ordered/found if the snaps came factory installed? I have been quoted locally $700-$900 for just a mooring cover and find that to be a bit steep since I only paid $1450 for the boat and trailer!

Bad news for you..... most covers have no set spacing for snaps :(

I have a 23' cuddy and had my covers custom made and the cover guy just matched the snaps that were there.
