Re: 1984 Searay Seville Bowrider 18.5' - What's it worth?

.. Is it necessary to get it registered before that or will law enforcement understand that it is merely a 15 min test float? I ended up paying $1,200.

Maybe 5 years back, I headed up to my parents lake home and me, wife and kids got there early so we jumped in their boat and went for a spin. I didn't realize that although my folks had purchased the boat tabs, they weren't on the hull. Of course the DNR saw us, stopped us and followed up back to the house. You'd have thought they caught a boat full of murderers they were so concerned with the seriousness of such a horrific infraction. I wouldn't advise much boating without tabs especially on a holiday weekend.

I was missing one letter on my registration (you can tell was there for the mark) and the law enforcement almost give me a ticket. Don't go into the water with out registration.

Welcome to the world of bating. absolutely change the impeller BEFORE your test drive. You could end up needing a new motor if the impeller fails and you don't shut down right away.

BTW do you plan on boating on the ohio?

OMC Stringer or not, that's a heck of a nice boat for $1200. I'd change the fluids and impeller.

Hit the Ohio today down at Duphy's landing in Jeffersonville for about a 15 minute test, everything went well. Tomorrow I plan on changing out all the fluids and getting a new rope for the trailer, I'll take a look at finding an impeller.

Smoke, it looks like we probably live pretty close together! I'm in Floyds Knobs.

Yep I'm in Charlestown... look into Charlestown state park for launching... USUALLY nowhere near the madhouse duffy's is. $25/year for a pass to all state parks including hardy and patoka... no launch permit for Charlestown but the lakes require one of those too.

Congratulations on the buy ... It's a great lookin' boat.

Impeller kit available HERE (go to PARTS, click STERN DRIVE in the drop down & navigate to yours), or you can check your local NAPA shop. Some NAPAs are carrying (or can get ya') OMC parts. I have one close by that's a pain to get to, but they're helpful. I have another one close by that's real easy to visit, but they want no part of marine stuff.

I do have a NAPA near by that I'll give a shot, is it the impeller itself that's 38 bucks or does it come with the o-rings and all that? I changed out all the lower fluids today, the o-rings didn't look bad but I suppose it can't hurt to order all new ones and replace them in 5 mins. Also put a new rope on the trailer winch, plan on registering it tomorrow.
