I have a 1984 Mercury Black Max 150. I had an aluminum hull built and took all the controls off of a 1984 hydrosport. Installed everything and and have been up and running for about 5 years. Not too long ago I hooked the battery up the wrong way and when I hit the key I heard something pop. I realized what I had done and swapped the wires. Now the motor will spin over but will not crank. I checked and Im not getting any spark. Does anyone know what I tore up or things for me to check? Fuse or relay?
Any Help is appreciated.

"spin over but will not crank" is a little confusing but assuming the starter spins the engine over when you turn the key to start you probably fried the rectifier. Disconnect it and try it again see if you have spark.

Yes I mean the starter turns the motor over fine. It is getting fuel and no spark. I went ahead and replaced the rectifier and still no spark. What should I check next?

I know on mine there is a 20 amp fuse in the side of the motor on the electrical plate cover. It seems to run inline to the voltage regulator. You might look around or check some schematics and make sure you don't just have a blown fuse somewhere.

Try disconnecting (and taping up separately) the yellows wires to the rectifier. Try ohming the stator windings. Might also do a DVA test of the stator.

The rectifier is very likely broke. You might get on the CDIelectronics web page and sun some of the ign tests for your ADI ignition.
