Well my Pinion and forward gears are shot.

I guess i need to decide weather to look for a new set of gears, or a used complete lower unit. Probably set me back 300-400. so i need to start saving some money.

well my thread is resolved kinda.

thanks for the input fellas

Look in the "Top Secret File" at the top of the page, there is a list of salvage yards there, maybe on of them can help you out.

well I found a gear set on ebay for 295 after shipping.

includes the forward, reverse, pinion and clutch dog.

any problems with putting new gears in since other parts wear differently?

Hopefully it will all come together without too many headaches. These gear cases are a little more difficult to disassemble that the ones that split at he skeg.

You woun't have any problems if you replace all three as a set.
I have replaced just one gear and never had any problems.

Agreed. Just make sure you clean out your gear case very well. Don't want a leftover hunk of metal flying around and screwing up your new setup!
