1984 90hp evinrude No Sparks on all cylinders

Runs good last months. Now no sparks at all. I have replaced power packs, coils, and plugs from a running motor. I also bypass a kill switch, disconnect voltage regulator, check and clean all ground wires, check stator and timer base all ohms reading are good. Any idea would be appreciated.

I would suggest that if you don't have a factory manual to help you check out your ignition system, go to the CDI website and look up your engine and use their trouble shooting guide.

I followed the CDI guideline and recheck the resistance for the stator and timer baser but did not take out the flywheel. Taking out the flywheel would be my last step. My previous motor it took about 5 hrs to take off the flywheel. Could it be anything else that I miss?

I would think that if the CDI site guides you to check under the flywheel, that's your next step.

That starter needs to turn that engine over between 200 and 250 rpm for the ignition system to generate enough voltage to fire the plugs. The voltage output tests for both the stator and timer base are good tests to do. You do need a special "peak reading" voltmeter for those tests. One other test-disconnect the red plug wire harness under the cowling. Jump start the starter with jumper cables from a strong battery. If you get spark at the plugs, your issue is somewhere in the control box/wire harness. Perhaps a bad key switch.

Just replaced the stator this evening from a running motor. I'll test it tomorrow.. Thanks
