1984 60hp Johnson motor lower gear case problems!!

I have a 60hp Johnson 1984 i was wondering if anyone could tell me if i could switch starters or even the bottom end from a 1978 60hp johnson motor?the 78 has power trim and tilt and i would like to use it but i just dont know if they are exchangable.....any help on this would be very much appreciated.and one more thing the compression should be around 120.......right? thanks Paul.

Should be no problem with the starter motor swap if the mountings are the same and the pinion teeth match,,??, with regard to the "bottom end" swap,, it may be possible however the inner exhaust alloy castings may well be different (as i found out myself when trying the same thing), and may not mate to the underside of the powerhead adaptor, hope this helps

120 psi would seem ok ,recommended minimum is 100 psi, but the really important thing is that the difference between cylinders (psi) should be 5% or less
