Well i found a good deal on at set of rebuilt 333882 heads. They are basically the earlier version on the head my boat came with. They are heavier and are not prone to cracking like the 624 heads. So for simplicity that's the route I chose. I know they will bolt right on and I don't have to worry about changing the intake or compression ratio. My next question is what gaskets to use? I see "marine" head gaskets are about $25 each. Then I see entire top engine gasket sets for $42 but they are regular automotive. What's the deal on what I really need?

A quick question regarding the sealant for the head bolt threads. Is this sealant for lubing and locking the bolt, or is it to seal leakage from a water passage? Is Permatex blue gasket sealant acceptable for this?

Really both, locking and leaking. that is why it is not a good idea to re-use head bolts, unless you recoated the ends with the locking fluid.

Do you plan on posting some pics at some point ???
