Hi,
I took my boat out this year but it over heated and died. It had not been pumping water and I found that the impellor was shredded, which I replaced. I also had to replace the gasket on the rear cooling cover as water was coming out around one of the plugs, which may have happened because of the heat generated.
I put the motor running again and with a good telltale, and to my suprise, it ran fine with good power in the water.
Kept running at mostly full throttle for 2.5 hours pulling skis and then after a short grinding noise, stopped dead. It was very hot again.
Engine turned over on key but wouldn't start.
After it sat for an hour, I tried it again, it started and limped to the shore, only coming up to about 1/4 revs. Telltale was good for this, but water coming out was alot hotter.
Any ideas out there why this would happen? or what I should look for. I figure the harm was not done with the first over heating as it ran fine for the 2.5 hours. Thanks in advance.
