1983 Yamaha Mariner thermostat question

So I've recently picked up a 5hp Mariner built by Yamaha and I need a thermostat. It's pretty hard to find a thermostat replacement for this motor and I was wondering if I need the exact same serial thermostat for my motor? Or can I run down to any marine supply and find a similar size Yamaha thermostat that will work just fine.

My mistake, I double checked the serial number and my motor must be a 1983. It's a Yamaha built Mariner, 5hp. When I go on Crowley marine and look up the mariner version and the Yamaha version, they are identical, except they list different part numbers and there are basically no mariner parts available. My actual motor appears to have all Yamaha parts,which makes this all confusing.

No that was for the gaskets and exhaust cover. I'm asking specifically about what thermostats are compatible for this motor.

So from what I can gleen, my motor must be an 83, and the earliest Yamaha brand equivalent would be an 84. The serial number for the mariner thermostat is 11919001 and 677-12411-00-00 for the Yamaha thermostat. Holding my current dead thermostat looks identical to the photo of the one listed under the Yamaha. I'll look into finding a photo of the mariner listed one, there wasn't one on the Crowley website.
