1983 mercury 25 hp vacuum lines

my motor runs fine at an idle but when put in gear and accelerating it kind of chokes up and i do have it in a tub in my yard and it sounds like its coming from the vaccume lines could it be because i do not have the proper lines?

The balance vacuum lines will cause trouble if they are cracked or brittle from age. They can be replaced and be bought by the foot from most dealers or here online. JMO
