Just fired mine up and found the carbs are leaking out of the bowls. So I'm assuming I need to go through the carbs. I'd like to change the plug wires but is that possible when they go into a distributor?
The wires might unscrew???
From the parts diagrams they show the wires are separate.
Good find on the bass boat. Just make sure the transom isn't rotten like the rest of the wood???
I found one(free) with the floors and seats shot but the transom was still good.
The HT wires are not screwed in to the distcap.
They are kind of squeezed in the cap.
The top of the cap have two screws that hold the top to the cap.
Unscrew these two and split up the top from the cap, then you can replace the wires.
Thanks guys! I will check the distributor out tonight. Ordered carb kits and a fuel pump diaphragm. Hopefully I can nail down the problem this weekend. And jerry the bass boat I think is going to get scrapped.. my wife really didn't like the fact I came home with it in the first place.
