1983 Chris Craft with original Mercruiser 5.7

I am having a charging issue i have installed 2 alternators still not charging when i increase the RPM the alternator output goes down. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ayuh,..... What voltages are you seein',..??
Where are you checkin' voltages,..??

Are the battery terminals good, clean, 'n tight, both ends of both cables,..??

11.5 on the excite wire on the alternator 12.3 on the sense wire on the alternator 45 on the main charging wire on the alternator and 12.3 at the battery as i give more RPMs the voltage either stays the same or drops

I'd expect to see close to battery voltage on the excite wire,....

Are the battery terminals, as well as every other wirin' connection Clean, 'n tight,..??
