Happy 4th to all,

I am trying to locate the specs on a 1983 Aero Glass 15 foot bass boat. The company information located near the serial ID states the company was in Tennessee however the company appears to no longer exist.

Does anyone have any tips on how I may be able to locate this information?

Thanks Again

finding info on older boat manufacturers is really difficult, as most were in and out of business in just a few years......fiberglassics.com might have some info....but what do you really want to know?......there is really not too much to glass boats....stringers hull transom helm and motor.

do you have a sepcific question about the boat?.....mabe we can help

cheers

Thanks for the welcome, so far I have gotten some great information.

Well, I was wondering how to remove the floor. The battery compartment floor has wet plywood and will need replacing eventually. The edges are beginning to dry rot. I also wasnt sure if the way the boat was wired would be included.

Re: 1983 Aero Glass Boat Specs

no sweat......83 is still pretty early in the boat building industry.....so the wireing was reallly simple....

check our electronics forum for a generic wiring diagramme. it will be pretty close to bang on.

as far as the soft beck under the battery.......most boats rot right there !

just read the compleated projects forum......there is a project called "skanky beast".......it is a really good tutorial......also red furys thread in that forum....

and for basics to really advanced stuff......hull ext in progress......(you gotta read all of it.....a lot of top pros are on there with really fantastic info)

but to remove that section of the deck.....take a circ saw ans set the blade to 1/2 inch.....and make a cut in the middle of the area you want to remove......see if you are deep enough to go thru the ply.....if not.....set at 3/4 inch....that should do it......
then cut out the affected area...(keep the cut out as a template) stay 3-4 inches away from the edge if you can....that will give you somthing to glass to.

after you have the area cut out.......search core sample....and take a sample from the foam under the deck....

if all is ok.....use the template and cut your self the same thickness peice of plywood.....screw some 4 inch strips under the old deck to use as a backing plate from the old deck to under the new deck....

screw the new peice in.......

search peanut butter....and fill crack.....then glass over with a minimum of 8 oz total of glass.....(you might want to double that under the battery)
finish as desired.............done.

if you take pics of the area .....we can step by step walk u thru it as you are doing it......but its easy.

hope that helps....

Re: 1983 Aero Glass Boat Specs

hi bud...i found it.......

way too small to see any thing.

forget the thumb nail things.....

just upload to photo bucket......then resize to 640x 480......(you can even use that as a default upload setting) then copy the img tag......

when you post....just paste the img tag in the post....really simple after you know how to do it....

wayyyy down belo in the problems with the website forum....there is a test thread.....you can play there without having to keep editing your post.

that thread is where i learned to post pics.....

cheers
