I asked this same question in the pontoon section: I have a 20 suntracker pontoon. It currently has a classic 50 (45 hp) on it. It gets up on a plane with 7 adults. I am looking for something with a bit more pep to pull my adult kids on a tube. Would the difference be worth the effort to put the 60 hp Mariner on it? I can get the mariner and all the cables with tilt for $300 (needs the upper carb replaced/rebuilt. Thanks in advance for your responses.

hi,

Well you 50HP is a 44 CU IN engine and the 60 is a 48 CU IN engine.
4 cubic inches and 10 HP will probably get you 4 miles per hr more speed at best on a pontoon boat. If you think that will be enough then try it $300 is cheap enough. If it does not work for you take it off and sell it.

I run a 66cu in 80 HP on a 25 ft pontoon that will pull one skier (young adult) or tubes fine.
