why would gas come out exhaust when fuel line bulb is pumped?

good call i was thinking float stuck down (open) on the carb causing it to drain out to the engine but couldn't figure out how it would leave VIA exhaust unless reeds not sealing tightly.. hmmm perhaps a possibility. but your idea would appear more likely.

Flushing right through the rubber through the cylinders and out the exhaust.J
