We need help please, we have a 1982 mercruiser 470, the boat prior to replacing the impeller worked fine, but since the replacement it now over heats.... Need some much needed advice as to maybe we have it backwards, or what might be causing the problem! Thanks everyone!

That hose from the bellhousing to the transom is easy to muck up. Make sure it has no kinks. If it looks good do a pump test, which is, pull the hose inside the boat and run the motor for 15 seconds in the water, not on muffs. You should get a nice bucket of water. If not, check your impeller job. There is a normal expected amount of water that I'm sure someone will chime in with.
Good luck.

i will have to agree with NHGuy when i did my bellows, impeller, raw water hose on my 83 470 it took me at least three times to get the right length on the hose so it would not kink you should be able to see the hose if it's kinked on your MC-1 outdrive, just look through the side of the bell housing and gimble housing you should see the hose you might need a flash light to see better
