Hi All,

I?m hoping to get confirmation on an assumption of what the problem is, then get your help to confirm I have the correct part #.

My neighbor at the cottage was nice enough to give me a 1982 Mariner 2hp (6A1 045093). I?ve confirmed it is the 1982 based on charts provided by previous posters on this site (thx!).
Motor starts great, but is flooding itself out. Took carb apart and cleaned it, but there is a sticky spot sometimes within the needle, seat, float, and is staying in the down position and causing fuel to leak out even when the motor isn?t running.
So, assumption #1, a carb kit would fix this. New needle, seat, float, gasket etc.

Assumption #2, I?ve found a couple parts that I believe are the correct #?s, but when I asked the sellers if it was they both said no but I?m not sure they really looked into or not. I know that this motor is actually a Yamaha motor so the descriptions of the ?Will fit Engines and Years? may not be accurate. I?m usually pretty good at the ?googling? but I?m struggling on this one.

Hoping you guys can weigh in with your expertise.

Seller said ?title says years 1984 to 1988?

Sierra said: ?No it is not called for your motor. You will need to contact Mercury for your carb kit.?

Thanks a lot!
Just a side note, just thought I?d say why I want to get this motor going. There is a small lake that you can only get to by ATV and there is 12ft tin boat that?s there for anyone to use. The lake gets very little traffic and there are no cottages on it. There is big large mouth and some pretty decent pike there. This motor is PERFECT to strap onto the quad in its original carrying case and troll along with it. That?s my plan anyway, with your help of course.

Thanks again,
Chris

Perhaps whoever you talked to at Sierra mistyped the part# when you gave it to them.

I cross referenced the long Yammy part #
A1-W0093-01-00

The old 92520M NLA Sierra part #

And the new replacement Sierra part # 18-7293

At more then 1 online source, including the iboats link you posted. They all agree, that part should fit your Mariner's carb.

As the generous host of this site, please give the Iboats store a call if you find the Sierra kit for less then Iboats sells it for. They do have a price matching policy, but I don't think they will match ebay pricing.

Thank you and best of luck getting the Mariner/Yammy running great. That remote spot ounds like a great place for some quality fishing.

Hey jb,
Thanks a lot for the reply! I'll definitely look to place the order with our host. For me though, it won't be a question about pricing but more so shipping being up in Canada. I recently went to order an oil filter from a seller on Amazon, filter was 8 bucks, shipping was $60?!? Its crazy sometimes.

Thanks again! I'll be sure to post if this fixed the problem.
