Hi guys,
Long time reader, first time poster. This past summer I came across a deal I couldn't pass up. A friend of mine decided to sell his 1981 Baja 184. I jumped at it for $1000. He threw in the trailer, the Mercury 150 Black max that currently resides on the boat and a Mercury 200 Black Max. Both motors have been freshly rebuilt and are very strong. The 200 is not on the boat because he said the boat became pretty unstable at the top end.
The family and I put the boat through it paces this summer. It performed very well in the bayous and lakes of south Louisiana. With a full tank and three adult the boat will still do 59 at w.o.t. The 150 s very strong. This is it in the water:

I bought the boat with the plans on doing a complete restoration this winter so I figured I would write it up for all to share. The boat has gone through a few changes over the years. The previous owner did some work to it and all the seat have been replaced with bass boat type seats. They all have to go. They are ripped and seen better days. He also removed the bow seats and created a deck in it's place. I plan on going back with some type of bow seating.
So this weekend I gutted the seats and fuel tank. it prep for replacing the spongy floor.

As you can see, the stringers will need to be replaced as well as the foam.
Ran out of daylight this weekend but stay tuned as I will continue to update the thread as progress is made.
