1981 90hp mariner

back in may i donated this motor to the church, they are having trouble starting it wants the motor has been trimmed up and put back down in the water again. any ideas? GOD BLESS

After trimming up, then putting back down in the water at a later time, they will probably need to pump up the fuel bulb again.

Once the engine is tilted up, the carb bowls drain and when tilted down again, they would defiantely have to pump the bulb again.

Could be mercury tilt switch is sticking or they have a bad wiring connection.

It's not so much that it needs a new bulb, as that when the engine is tilted up out of the water, the fuel in the carbs leak out, then when they put the engine back in the water, theres no fuel in the carbs for it to run, thats why they need to pump up the bulb again. It's not due to a bad bulb, but normal.
