I rebuilt my carbs, I checked my fuel lines and tank, I checked my compression, and I rebuilt my fuel pump.

My motor runs great! Up to about 2000 - 2300 rpm that is. Then it sputters, dies out, misses, then putts a little, zooms a little, then I pull the throttle back and it runs ok at 2000 or below. Once in a rare while I can get it up above 3000 and it sort of runs, but I have to sneak up on it before it knows I am testing it, then it's back to the same old problem.

So I checked my stator.

red to blue at 2K scale on my multimeter 4.88

red-white to blue-white at 20K scale on my multimeter erratic reading 9-15 multimeter acts crazy

red-ground - 155

red-wht - ground - 155

OK my multimeter is a digital but a piece of crap. However, everything I check otherwise seems to read ok.

But my question is, is the stator capable of causing the malady I mention above but running great at below 2000 rpm? If so, what is my cheapest out that is smart, and will get my motor running?

All your readings are good except the blue/white red/white. It should be between 5400 and 6200 ohms. Recheck it with another meter and if you get the same thing it will have to be replaced. I've never tried them,. but Boatfix.com advertises rebuilding them for about $25 and takes about 2 weeks. Part no R16074/16074T
