So i bought a 1979 swiftsure. First boat i owned, and im fixing the boat up. Ive got the carpet all ripped up seats are gone and the side cushions are gone. Ive got the tank out which was covered up by plywood. When i took it out i noticed that the wood surrounding the tank is all rotten and falling apart. I cut the floor back about 2" all the way around from where the tank sits. Should i just pull the floor up just to see whats going on underneath? Ive got a leak under the boat also pretty much under the bulge pump area and i have water dripping constantly. I cant find the source of the leak so thats why im figuring i should rip the floor up. Any ideas? And if anyone has any experience with a swiftsure or any schematics on the boat i would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

Yup, rip the whole floor up, you'll more than likely find plenty more rot and probably wet foam.

Start reading the other boat restoration threads in here and you'll learn what to do and how to do it before you even start your build back.

Post pics of you boat because we love the boat porn and it will help you document your repairs.
