1979 Starcraft Chieftain

Hello All,
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have 79 18ft Starcraft Chieftain that I'm patching up (literally). I need to put a new outboard on it. The tag says it is rated up to 150hp. I am looking for information about a true weight rating rather than hp rating since 1970's 2 strokes weight a fair amount less than modern 4 strokes.

I've tried to be clever and look up the weight of a 1979 150hp outboard and I'm getting weights in the high 300's.

Any wisdom will be appreciated.

The run of the mill Mercury TOP weighs in at around 300 lbs, and at ~115hp that is a motor that would have been common on them when new.

An F115 Yamaha weighs 377 lbs, and 150's are in the 500 lbs range. A modern 115hp will have about the same hp as an old 120-125hp
