I really wasn't in the market for a boat though I wouldn't pass up a deal like this...$200 for boat and trailer. It's a 1979 Glastron Carlson CVX-16 (i think) with a 1975 Mercruiser 850. In it's current state, this boat is uglier than sin and will need A LOT of work to get back to lake worthy conditions.

HIN: GCV12429M79C
motor serial: 4297182

Will someone please confirm that this boat is in fact a CVX-16? I'm very green in the boat world and haven't yet honed my sense of what info I can trust out there in the boating interwebs.

I plan on going balls to the wall with little to no experience, hopefully with an end result that will make me proud. I've learned so much the last couple of days through the forum and hope you all can help me along when it gets bumpy.

As it sits, the motor is cranking but not starting. I followed a wiring diagram to make sure all connections were being made but still no luck in getting it to fire. I will start the ignition system troubleshooting tomorrow.

The hull and 'cap' are pretty solid minus the disgusting paint and rhino liner...yes I said rhino liner. The previous owner was lazy and decided rather than do it right, he'd rhino line the top and spray on a coat of yellow. Hopefully there won't be any surprises when I get the crap off and reveal the gel coat/fiber glass. From what I can tell there are 4 layers of finish before reaching the fiber glass. Yellow automotive paint, rhino liner, a purplish paint, and then the original orange gel coat with metal flake. The underside is the original cream colored gel coat and shows a few places where it's cracking.

I plan on taking this little by little as my resources and knowledge of boats are limited. I want to do a jet pump conversion but we'll just have to see how the rest goes :D

Now for your viewing pleasure....
