This person has a 16ft ebbtide has the omc outdrive with 3.8 buick.thats all i know said it was started two years ago.needs interior been stripped.sorry i cant get more info.what all motors would work? I know its been sitting for 10 years.what about outdrive will seals go bad sitting.i like the style of boat.was going to trade mopad if it will run.just dont know much about them outdrives,what to look for as bad while running.will v8 fit will i have to change water jackets on outdrive?

Sitting will not hurt the seals. Not too good for the impeller, however. I wouldn't pay ANYTHING for a boat that doesn't even run. Offer to take the boat of his hands and you won't charge him anything. If you do get it, you don't want to get into a motor swap. A donor boat with a usable motor would be the only way to go.

For a 16 ftr, I'd stick with the 3.8 Buick. It would have ample ooomph for a boat that size. I would also post a picture of the outdrive to make sure it is in fact a 1979. I was not aware that OMC used Buick V6's in 1979.

Ok maybe its a 78.its probly not worth it anyways.i know outdrive is white and not a mercrusier.

1972 was the last Buick/OMC Combo. Buick V6's have the distributor on the front of the engine.
OMC had no V6 in 78 or 79.
In 1980 or 1981 OMC began using the Chevrolet 3.8 (distributor at rear)

Regardless, keep the moped...
