I have a lund sundance with a 79 dt65 that I bought a little over a year ago. I bought it cheap becuase it had no spark at the time(still doesn't). I rewound the stator on it after testing that it had infinite resistance, but what I dont understand is that the pulser and charge coils were wired as one. I wound it the same and tried.. no spark. Rewired it as two seperate coils, no spark. I guess my question is, how are the coils supposed to be wired? The wiring is a rats nest, and I have not been able to locate a service manual anywhere. If somebody could tell me how the coils are supposed to be wired, and what the wires coming out of the cdi box are supposed to go to, that would be greatly appreciated. I know that the one black grounds to the bolt it mounts to, one is for the ignition coil, two I believe go to the stator, and there is one short black one with an open stripped end, I have no idea what this does or where it should go. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this thing has been a giant headache from the start... If somebody could tell me just the essential wiring need to fire it that would be great, I can figure the rest out.

Edit: I believe this is an AC CDI ignition system, somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

If by chance this motor is a console steer model??.

You may have already checked this, The kill switch on the remote control for the older Suzuki?s are notorious for failing. A temp fix is to place a small screw into the rubber cap to depress the plunger and make contact powering up the coils.

Good luck

PS; Pick your manual on Craig?s list ~ $15-25

It is a console steer model but it does not have a kill switch, just the ignition switch. Im assuming it has a normally closed ignition system judging by the style of kill switch you describe. Im wondering if the short black wire with the stripped end coming out of my cdi is for the kill switch? I have tried it grounded and ungrounded though, and it made no difference.

I checked out your year at Browns Point Marine (see link below) and they show two remote controllers, one with emergency kill and one without.

I have two Suzuki 1983 DT50 & DT60, I am at work so I don?t have my manuals with me, I?ll have to check and get back to ya

My service manual is for DT50/65.

It shows a kill switch in the circuit, Browns point Marine's parts break shows a kill switch, for your year, separate from the control box, possibly below the IGN switch. Check to see if by chance it was rewired ?

Wire colors

(Normaly open switch) Kill switch = G & B

CDI output to magneto
Br/R
W/R
B
CDI output to coil
B/W

Hope this helps
